Freedom Wills
About Us
Freedom Wills specialises in Will Writing, Trusts, Estate and Inheritance Tax Planning and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Freedom Wills offers a professional but personal service and we pride ourselves on explaining things in a common sense and practical way.
We offer low cost Wills and Powers of Attorney in Colchester, Chelmsford and Ipswich as well as Bournemouth and Dorset.
We will travel to anywhere in Suffolk Essex and Dorset to help you.
We do not try and sell you trusts and packages that you don't need and we advertise all of our prices on the ''fees'' page in this web site.
Most other Will Writing companies and Solicitors do not do this. I wonder why !
I can pretty much guarantee that if you look at another site and they don't list their prices, then they are going to be more expensive than us. Check it out and if you find anyone who is genuinely cheaper, we will try to match their offer.
For your peace of mind, Freedom Wills is a full member of The Society of Will Writers, which means we are fully committed to their conditions of membership and their client charter.
We may be found at The Society of Will Writers.
We have comprehensive Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance and we are registered with the Information Commissioners Office to ensure your ‘data’ is protected.
We do not share any personal information without your permission.

More about Freedom Wills
We are happy to check your existing Will and help you decide if it is still right for you and your family. There is no charge or obligation with this service.
Our job is to give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing you have properly protected you family and loved ones.
It is also about understanding your unique and individual circumstances and giving you the right advice to help you with some of the following: -
- Saving Inheritance Tax
- Making sure your family inherit as much as possible of your hard-earned money when you die.
- Protecting your estate from future remarriage of a surviving spouse.
- Passing on your assets in such a way that they are protected from divorce or bankruptcy of your children.
- Helping you make proper provision for a disabled relative or child and preserving their benefits.
- Making sure your children are looked after if they are under 18 when you die.
- Making sure your nominated guardians have adequate financial provision to carry out their parental duties.
When there is no Will, the government decides who gets what from the sale of your assets. Generally, the spouse or civil partner is first in line but won't necessarily get everything, next in the queue are children or grandchildren, parents, siblings or their children, half-siblings or their children, grandparents, uncles and aunts (or their children) and finally half uncles and aunts (or their children).
Clearly with no Will your estate (or a part of it) may not go where you want it to, and may indeed go exactly where you don't want it to go. If there are no relatives the Crown generally gets the lot.
There are many different types of Wills and having the wrong type could have serious consequences on how your estate is divided and its value.
Did you know that marriage revokes your existing Will? Divorce does not revoke your Will.
Unmarried couples who do not have a Will risk the situation where the surviving partner stands to inherit nothing.
What about digital legacy? (On line bank accounts and social media that needs to be deactivated etc).

Some sobering thoughts:
When there is no Will, the government decides who gets what from the sale of your assets. Generally, the spouse or civil partner is first in line but won't necessarily get everything. Next in the queue are children or grandchildren, parents, siblings or their children, half-siblings or their children, grandparents, uncles and aunts (or their children) and finally half uncles and aunts (or their children).
Clearly with no Will your estate (or a part of it) may not go where you want it to, and may indeed go exactly where you don't want it to go. If there are no relatives or a Will the Crown generally gets the lot.
You can appoint someone to look after your kids in the event of your demise - otherwise Social Services may step in and intervene.
There are many different types of Wills and having the wrong type could have serious consequences on how your estate is divided and its value.
And the tax man? Well, simply put, paying a few hundred pounds now could save you tens of thousands later e.g. you'll pay 40% inheritance tax on anything OVER £325,000 but with a will (leaving everything you own to a husband, wife or civil partner) you typically set that bar to a much higher £650,000 before you pay tax.
Using Freedom Wills avoids making a mistake. Making a mistake in a Will can make it invalid. There are many potential mistakes, all of which we avoid.
Did you know that marriage revokes your existing Will? Divorce, however does not revoke your Will.
Unmarried couples who do not have a Will risk the situation where the surviving partner stands to inherit nothing!
